Journey’s inspiration came from David and his sister’s experiences and a deep awareness that many Colombian youth missed opportunities, not from a lack of dreams, but from financial limitations.
“We wanted young people to know that it’s not so impossible to leave the country if they really have the will. It all started with that mission to open doors,” says David.
Journey began with a clear goal: removing economic barriers to international experiences, and making them accessible to students from all backgrounds.
Initially, the agency offered cultural exchange programs such as Au Pair and Work and Travel, prioritizing affordability and accessibility. It wasn’t simply about travel, it was about empowering students to envision and build their futures abroad.
Journey grew organically, driven by ethical advising and personalized support. Early on, the founders recognized the uniqueness of each student's path and emphasized transparent, genuine counseling as a key to changing lives.
As demand increased, Journey expanded into more than 20 destinations, branching out into language and academic programs to serve a broader student audience.
For years, Journey’s focus remained on cultural exchange programs, which typically came with fixed durations and conditions. This meant operations were straightforward, and no need to customize quotes or manage complex variables.
“These programs were very concise packages… There was no need to add weeks, insurance, or extras. Everything was clear from the start,” David recalls.
However, as Journey expanded into academic studies and language courses, they faced a new challenge: delivering accurate, personalized, and timely quotes for each student. This highlighted their need for a centralized, streamlined solution to support further growth.
“Because of the demand and our growth goals, we started looking for tools that would help us professionalize this business line,” explains David.
